The holidays have officially kicked off — and for me, that means one thing: it’s time to begin my Starbucks Traditions journey once again. This year’s theme, Invite Joy, couldn’t have come at a better time.

It’s been a challenging year for many Filipinos. Typhoons, earthquakes, corruption, and loss have tested our spirit more times than we can count. Yet, somehow, we always find a way to rise. We may avoid calling it “resilience,” but that’s exactly what it is — an unshakable strength wrapped in quiet hope. Because when you’ve hit the ground, the only direction left is up.
And in moments of rebuilding, joy becomes essential. Sometimes, it’s as simple as sharing laughter with family, or as comforting as a cup of coffee warming your hands. For me, that’s where this year’s Invite Joy journey begins — with gratitude, hope, and the familiar aroma of a Starbucks brew that feels like home.
I used to wear the apron proudly more than a decade ago, back when my days were filled with espresso shots, caramel drizzle, and friendly “good mornings” to sleepy regulars. I left the job suddenly after a stroke 12 years ago — something that changed my pace, but not my love for coffee or the community that comes with it.
These days, I’m on the other side of the counter, savoring every cup like a quiet celebration. My go-to has always been the Caramel Macchiato — sweet, smooth, and somehow nostalgic. And while life has taken a few unexpected turns, my appreciation for good coffee and the stories it carries has never faded.
This year, my Traditions journey began on November 7 — just a day after my son and his band Kahidlaw proudly bagged third place at his school’s Battle of the Bands. It felt like a small victory worth celebrating, so we drove to the newest Starbucks near us, the Bloomfields branch. The place was buzzing with energy, filled with the scent of freshly brewed coffee and laughter bouncing off the walls.

Congrats Zaki!

The line at Starbucks Bloomfields never stopped since we arrived
As I settled into my seat, planner card ready and holiday cup in hand, I couldn’t help but smile. The season of joy had finally arrived — and with every sip, I knew I was right where I needed to be.
The Drinks that Spark Joy
Every Starbucks holiday season feels like a little reunion — familiar faces, flavors, and that first sip that instantly sets the mood. This year’s lineup brought back the same all-time favorites, and seeing them on the menu felt like catching up with old friends.
1. Toffee Nut Crunch Latte

Starbucks’ Toffee Nut Crunch Latte is back, and it’s every bit as comforting as you remember. Buttery toffee nuts and a hint of toasted goodness blend seamlessly with rich espresso, then it’s finished off with a sprinkle of crunchy bits. Smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of indulgence, it’s the kind of drink that makes cozy mornings feel special and holiday catch-ups even sweeter. Available hot, iced, or as an ice blended treat.
This will always be my favorite, though I can’t help but wish for something new — maybe Gingerbread, Butterbeer, or Pistachio like the seasonal drinks they serve in Starbucks Singapore. A little variety would make the journey even more exciting!
2. Peppermint Mocha

The Peppermint Mocha is a holiday classic with a touch of extra sparkle. Chocolate and coffee combine with a refreshing peppermint twist, all topped with whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, and crushed candy canes. Each sip is creamy, festive, and downright cheerful — the kind of drink that makes you want to slow down, savor it, and maybe even share a few smiles along the way. Available hot, iced, or blended.
Peppermint Mocha can be a bit of an acquired taste. Some people say it reminds them of brushing their teeth — it’s definitely a love-it-or-hate-it kind of drink. I usually only order it when I’ve run out of other options. Lol.
3. Hazelnut Praline Mille-Feuille Oatmilk Latte

Nutty, creamy, and undeniably brimming with holiday cheer. My son ordered it first, curious about the fancy name and the oat milk twist. I took a sip and instantly knew it wasn’t for me. The hazelnut flavor is strong — a bit too bold for my liking. But if you’re into rich, dessert-like drinks, this one’s definitely worth a try. I used to like hazelnut, I don’t know why this one hit differently.
By the way, if you’re wondering how to pronounce it, it should be Mille-feuille: /meel-FOY/. You’re welcome🤣🤣
The Food that Completes the Experience
This year’s holiday food lineup in the Philippines brought a mix of comfort and new surprises.
My all-time favorite has to be the Chicken Fajita Roll. It’s flavorful, satisfying, and pairs beautifully with any of the holiday drinks. We made sure to order it right away — it’s one of those items that instantly feels like the season has begun.

Then there’s the new Chicken Chipotle Melt, which instantly caught my attention with its smoky chipotle flavor and gooey cheese. It’s warm, hearty, and easily turns a quick coffee stop into a full meal. Just a little tip — give it a minute to cool down before taking a bite. It comes out really hot, and I learned that the hard way! Lol

More Holiday Bites to Try
Good coffee deserves good food — and Starbucks knows exactly how to make both work together. Their holiday menu this year feels like a reunion of old favorites with a few surprises sprinkled in. Here’s what caught my eye (and appetite) during my recent visits.
Cakes & Pastries
Butterscotch Chocolate Chip Fudge Cheesecake

Slice P295/ Whole P3185
If cookie dough and cheesecake had a baby, this would be it. It’s creamy, sweet, and full of little chocolate chip surprises in every bite. It’s the kind of dessert that makes you pause mid-conversation because you’re too busy enjoying it.
Chocolate Chip Overload Cookie

P105/pc
This one lives up to its name — soft, chewy, and generously loaded with chocolate chips. Best paired with a hot Americano when you’re trying to lift your mood on a long afternoon.
Chocolate Crêpe Cake

Slice P365/ Whole P2385
I’ve never been a fan of crêpe cakes — too thin, too much effort. But this one might make me reconsider. The layers look so yummy and interesting that I’d probably try it just for the novelty (and the Instagram photo).
Dark Chocolate Truffle Mousse Cake

Slice P385/ Whole P4115 😮😮
Everyone’s been talking about this cake online, and for good reason. It looks rich, tastes like luxury, and makes you feel like you’re celebrating something — even if it’s just surviving another busy day.
Mango Berry Crumble Cheesecake

Slice P295/ Whole P3185
A bright, fruity break from all the chocolate-heavy treats. The tangy mango and sweet berry combo hit that perfect balance between refreshing and indulgent.
Red Velvet Whoopie Pie

P105/pc
This one’s been trending too, but not all the reviews are glowing. Still, it’s cute and playful — worth a try if you’re curious or just in the mood for something red and cheerful.
Hot Chocolate Peppermint Doughnut

P120/pc
This doughnut looks straight out of a holiday card — a cheerful snowman face with a red candy nose and chocolate eyes. Beneath the white icing is a soft, chocolate-filled center with just a hint of peppermint. It’s whimsical, sweet, and almost too cute to eat… almost.
(By the way, you can buy most of the cakes as a whole — perfect if you’re planning to surprise the family or treat the office team.)
Savory Selections
Classic Beef Lasagna

P245/pc
Cheesy, saucy, and baked to comfort-food perfection. It’s the kind of dish that makes gloomy December days a little brighter.
Holiday Ham, Egg, and Mozzarella Cheese on Roti Paratha

P205/pc
Flaky roti paratha folded with juicy ham, fluffy egg, and gooey mozzarella — all tied together with a touch of cranberry sauce. It’s a lovely mix of sweet and savory that feels both familiar and new. Fun fact: paratha is a type of layered flatbread popular in South Asia, known for its crisp edges and soft, buttery layers — which explains why every bite of this one feels so indulgent.
Roast Beef Stew on Yorkshire Pudding

P215/pc
It sounds fancy, but it’s really just pure comfort food dressed up for the holidays. Tender beef, rich gravy, and soft pudding — a small meal that feels like a big treat.
Focaccia Di Recco

P135/pc
It’s a thin, crispy focaccia oozing with mozzarella, Parmesan, and cream cheese — simple ingredients, but the combination delivers a comforting, savory pull with every bite. It’s light, satisfying, and easy to snack on while chatting or waiting for your drink. It’s the kind of bread you think you’ll just “taste,” then realize you’ve eaten the whole thing.
The Merch that Brings the Cheer
There’s something about the designs — the colors, the tiny details, the little nods to childhood — that makes the season feel lighter. This year’s lineup leans into the Invite Joy theme with pieces that look straight out of a cozy Christmas village. Here are the items that instantly won me over:
1. Bearista Bear Mini Cookie House (₱2,645)

This little Bearista looks like it jumped straight out of a Christmas cookie tin. Dressed in a soft, gingerbread-inspired suit with fluffy trim, a bright red beanie, and a classic green-and-red scarf, it’s impossible not to smile when you see it. It has that “instant holiday cheer” vibe — the kind of plush you place on a shelf and suddenly the whole room feels merrier.
2. 24oz Plaid Cookie House Cold Cup – Belle (₱1,495)

This 24oz cold cup comes in a bold, glossy red with a woven-style pattern that catches light in the nicest way. Sitting on top is a tiny gingerbread figure holding a cookie-house roof, adding a playful touch that softens its striking design. It feels made for anyone who likes their drinkware practical but still wants a hint of whimsy during the holidays.
3. 12oz Stainless Steel Tumbler – Cookie House Cathy (₱1,795)

This festive pink tumbler is perfect for hot drinks and cozy morning routines — especially for those working from home who don’t want their coffee to go cold too quickly. It’s sturdy, comfortable to hold, and features a cheerful gingerbread character holding candy canes. The cookie-house theme adds a sweet touch without being too bold, while the vertical white “Starbucks” lettering gives it a clean, modern feel. It’s a great pick for anyone who wants something seasonal yet functional.
