Snapshots of a Short Summer Escape

A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog about how to make your summer memorable as a family. This trip? It might not be the most epic adventure out there, but for us, it’s definitely one for the books. We didn’t travel far. No airport lines, no overnight bags, no detailed itinerary. Just a simple plan: spend the day exploring a few spots in Manila … Continue reading Snapshots of a Short Summer Escape

How To Make Every Family Summer Outing More Meaningful

Summer outings have always been a big deal in our family. With just the four of us, we’ve built a little tradition we really look forward to—one special outing for each side of the family—one for my folks and one for my husband. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s ours, and it’s something we all treasure. Every year, the planning kicks off with casual conversations — … Continue reading How To Make Every Family Summer Outing More Meaningful

What Does Lent Mean to Your Family?

Holy Week is upon us, and for those who wish to start their own family tradition, this post might help. Every year during Maundy Thursday, our family observes Visita Iglesia—visiting seven churches while praying the Stations of the Cross. At each stop, we pray two Stations per church, completing all 14 Stations by the end of our journey. It’s a quiet, meaningful pilgrimage that helps … Continue reading What Does Lent Mean to Your Family?

A Memorable Summer @ Camp Rofelio

It’s been a while since we’ve had a family outing. Money’s been tight these past two years, so we’ve had to put fun on hold. But hey, the kids aced their schoolwork, so we figured it’s time to reward them with a little getaway. They deserve a memory that’ll last a lifetime, right? I’m all about Baguio, you know, the cool mountain air and all … Continue reading A Memorable Summer @ Camp Rofelio

A Green Thumb’s Dragon Fruit Harvest

The last time I planted something that bore fruit, or didn’t die was in high school when we were required to plant pechay in the garden for Home Economics. And since then, all my attempts were futile. They either drown in water, die of starvation or get cancer from staying out in the sun for too long. Since then, I have accepted the fact that … Continue reading A Green Thumb’s Dragon Fruit Harvest

Tatay’s Giant Mangoes

Around three years ago, Tatay planted mango seedlings in his small garden, and today we’re enjoying the fruits of his labor (literally!) The mangoes are large and can weigh up to 1 kg each. Upon measuring the fruit, it’s 7 inches in length. Tatay harvested all the mangoes in one of his trees this week, and they’re some of the best I have tasted! They’re … Continue reading Tatay’s Giant Mangoes
