Yesterday was Zaki’s JS prom. We brought him and his partner Bella to school, and since we also had to fetch him afterwards at 11pm, we decided to kill time at the mall. We chose to have dinner at Pho Hoa /My Thai, thus the Phoa-nomenal title. Lol. It worked, right?

Our family not only loves Mexican food but is also passionate about Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. We’re thrilled that this restaurant brings together the best of both worlds.
We ordered the following;

Bagoong Rice (Khao Kluk Kapi) Php350 from My Thai
This dish is a perennial favorite for us. The pork pieces are consistently tender and perfectly seasoned, while the rice boasts a delightful stickiness that feels almost dessert-like—in the best possible way. The bagoong is well-balanced, offering just the right touch of salt without overwhelming the dish, and the bright acidity of green mangoes subtly tempers its intensity. For me, it’s always spot-on. The chilli slices pack a punch, delivering a surprising kick if bitten into. We’re not sure if we’re doing it “correctly,” but we always toss the entire plate together to make sure everyone gets a bit of every element—fair share all around!

Shrimp Pad Thai Php 385 from My Thai
Honestly, I used to find Pad Thai too sweet and heavy, but My Thai’s version is perfectly balanced. Every bite bursts with delightful flavors and textures—plump, fresh shrimp, tender noodles, and the satisfying crunch of roasted peanuts create a harmonious culinary experience.

Brisket, Flank Pho Php 402
I could eat this every day—no kidding! The fresh flavours and the light, airy rice noodles are perfect for a quick pick-me-up. The beef is tender, and with the addition of extra bean sprouts and basil leaves, the generous bowl becomes shareable for 3 or 4 people. Plus, I appreciate that you can request more soup at no extra charge if needed.

Mango Sticky Rice
For dessert, we enjoyed Mango Sticky Rice—a delightful finale to our meal. Sorry, I forgot how much it is. The ripe, sweet mangoes, warm sticky rice, and cool vanilla ice cream come together to create a surprisingly harmonious medley of flavors and textures.
Although we weren’t particularly hungry when we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised that our food arrived in under 15 minutes—well ahead of the estimated 20-minute wait. The staff was courteous and efficient. However, the restaurant’s open layout near the stage meant that loud performances were unavoidable. At the time, a cosplay competition was in full swing, and the noise level made conversation nearly impossible.
So what’s the verdict?
