Shows I watch for fun and just because they’re oddly satisfying
We all have those shows that we can’t help but binge-watch when we finally find the time to sit back and relax. They make us happy, even if they leave our family members raising their eyebrows or questioning our sanity. I know my watchlist is a bit eccentric, but hey—to each their own, right? Here are the shows that bring me joy, confusion, and satisfaction all in one go.
1. Dr. Pimple Popper

This TLC hit, which launched in 2018, is hosted by the bubbly Dr. Sandra Lee, a dermatologist based in Upland, California. The show follows Dr. Lee as she takes on the most challenging cases of skin issues—mainly cysts, lipomas, and other unusual skin growths.

Now, here’s the strange thing: I have trypophobia (the fear of holes),

(giving you this visualization even if it’s scaring the hell out of me)
but somehow, watching Dr. Lee squeeze out these gross things doesn’t faze me. There’s something oddly satisfying about how she describes cyst contents too, comparing them to food—like “lemon curd” or “cherry pie filling.” I know it’s weird, but I love it.
What really amazes me, though, is the transformation of people who once thought they were beyond help. Take the case of Roger, who had a massive growth on his back for over a decade. After surgery, his confidence was visibly restored, and you could see a new version of him emerge. Moments like these make the show feel heartwarming rather than gross.
Dr. Lee’s personality is another reason I keep coming back. She’s sincere, perky, and so full of positivity. I just wish all doctors were like her—gentle, funny, and genuinely compassionate.
2. Hoarders

I swear, watching this show makes my skin crawl. I’ve diagnosed myself with a touch of OCD Obsessive-compulsive disorder, so seeing people buried under mountains of clutter hits me right in the gut. And yet, for some reason, I need to feel that overwhelming sensation as they wade through rooms filled with unimaginable piles of stuff.
Maybe I watch it because I crave the transformation at the end. There’s something so satisfying about watching those hoarders’ homes go from chaotic disaster zones to clean, organized spaces. It’s almost like therapy—except I’m not the one doing the cleaning, lol. There’s just a sense of hope and relief when they finally reclaim their homes and lives.
3. Explore With Us

This true-crime YouTube channel, Explore With Us (EWU), has me hooked. It offers a deep dive into criminal cases, often featuring real interrogation footage from suspects. Watching these scenes unfold is fascinating because it gives an authentic view of what happens behind the closed doors of an interrogation room.
What I appreciate most is how the channel weaves in psychological interpretations of the suspect’s body language and responses. It adds a whole new layer of insight. Some cases are so horrifying, it’s hard to believe they actually happened. Imagine learning that a teenager loved by his family could commit an unthinkable act—or that a mother could kill her own child. The darkness of these stories is haunting, but it’s impossible to look away.
4. My 600-lb Life

There’s something undeniably inspiring about My 600-lb Life. The show follows the journeys of individuals struggling with severe obesity as they fight to reclaim their lives—both physically and emotionally. At the heart of many transformations is the no-nonsense but compassionate Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, or “Dr. Now,” who’s known for his blunt advice and unwavering support. His strict diet plans and surgical interventions have helped countless people shed hundreds of pounds and find a new sense of freedom.
What fascinates me most is the sheer willpower these individuals display. Imagine carrying over 600 lbs and working your way down to 200 lbs—or even less! It’s not just about the physical change, but the emotional and mental growth that happens along the way. Dr. Now holds them accountable, but his kindness also shines through, especially when they feel overwhelmed by setbacks.
Watching these success stories feels like witnessing small miracles. One of the most memorable journeys for me was that of Christina Phillips, who lost over 500 lbs.

From being bedridden to walking confidently on her own, her transformation was jaw-dropping. It’s amazing to see how people once trapped by their weight emerge from the experience healthier, happier, and determined to embrace life again.
Dr. Now’s approach may be tough love, but it’s exactly what these patients need to succeed—and it’s a huge part of why the show is so captivating.
5. Showbiz Now Na & Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update

Every day, the Marites in me craves the latest celebrity gossip. I can’t help it—I need my daily dose of showbiz updates! Between the two, though, I prefer Ogie Diaz’s show over Cristy Fermin’s.
Sure, I know both Ogie and Cristy tend to sugarcoat certain topics, but Cristy’s bias is way too obvious. Ogie is much better at masking his allegiances, making the gossip feel a bit more easy on the ear. Also, Cristy’s sidekicks can be a bit over the top. Rommel is okay, but Wendell? Ugh, he’s just too much for me. The corny jokes, scripted comedic singing mishaps, and forced banter have gotten so old—it’s become more cringe than entertaining.
So there you have it—my guilty pleasures exposed. I know my list is a bit quirky, but hey, these shows bring me joy in the weirdest ways. Whether it’s popping cysts, organizing hoards, solving crimes, watching weight loss miracles, or indulging in celebrity gossip, these shows keep me entertained. Life’s too short to care what others think about my watchlist. Ciao.
