Are you a Bloom?

Who’s your favorite Bini?

BINI has been taking the P-Pop scene by storm! Born from ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy, this talented eight-member girl group burst onto the scene in June 2021 with their debut single “Born to Win.” They actually consider themselves as “pandemic babies”.

The name Bini was coined from the Filipino word binibini which means young lady. Aside from just being young, they are independent, informed, and they’re more than meets the eye.

But it was their pre-debut release of “Da Coconut Nut” in 2020 that really got people talking. Their fresh take on the classic song, combined with their vibrant energy and undeniable talent, quickly made them a fan favorite.

Since then, BINI has continued to rise to stardom, releasing hit after hit like “Kapit Lang” and “Golden Arrow.” Their music, a perfect blend of catchy melodies, powerful vocals, and meaningful lyrics, has resonated with fans across the Philippines and beyond. These days, you would hear Pantropiko and Salamin, Salamin literally everywhere. Everyone knows them. From tiny tots to grannies on the street.

I would admit that I’m a bit late and I’m currently catching up with this craze. But I’m happy I got to know and appreciate these girls through the videos on different social media platforms.

It’s not surprising that they would rise to the top because they have worked so hard for it. During the pandemic when they were just starting, they were even handing out fliers and introducing themselves to people on the street- talk about dedication and perseverance! No wonder they’re so blessed.

I recently watched their interview on YouTube on Karen Davila’s channel and I shed a few tears. They’re not just hardworking ladies but very strong, too. I admire their grit, determination and resilience.

With their growing popularity, BINI has not only earned the title “Nation’s Girl Group” but has also become a beacon of inspiration for aspiring artists and dreamers everywhere.

But with eight amazing members, each with their own unique personalities and strengths, choosing a favorite can feel like an impossible task. So, let’s make it a little easier (or maybe even harder!) by taking a closer look at each member and what makes them so special.

Bini Aiah

Aiah is the group’s “Main Rapper” and Visual. Her real name is Maraiah Queen Arceta. She captivates fans with her sharp raps and undeniable Pinay beauty.  But there’s more to this talented artist than meets the eye. Beneath her cool demeanor, Aiah is a passionate creative who loves to draw and swim. Her journey to BINI was a testament to her determination and talent, proving that with hard work and persistence, dreams can indeed become reality.

Bini Colet

Colet or Nicolette Vergara is the “Main Vocalist”. She has a voice that’s like a warm embrace, instantly soothing the soul. But her talents don’t stop at singing. Whispers among fans suggest that Colet is a budding songwriter, penning heartfelt lyrics in her spare time. Always on the move, Colet’s infectious energy and radiant smile brings a spark to both her performances and her interactions with fellow members.

Bini Maloi

Maloi or Mary Loi Yves Ricalde is another “Main Vocalist,” she adds depth and emotion to BINI’s sound with her soulful vocals. Who could miss her signature bold red lip, a statement piece that perfectly complements her vibrant personality. I like her quirkiness and no-nonsense vibe.

Bini Gwen

Gwen or Gweneth L. Apuli is the “Lead Vocalist” and Rapper Extraordinaire. She showcases her versatility with both smooth vocals and fiery rap verses. In the beginning, it’s only her and Mikah that I can remember because they’re the only ones with totally different looks-short and red hair, who could miss that? On stage, she’s a force to be reckoned with, pouring her heart and soul into every performance. But offstage, Gwen’s down-to-earth charm and relatable personality make her feel like the friendly girl next door. In interviews, she’s also very shy. Btw, she looks a little like my dear friend Valerie. Val, if you’re reading this “bonjour et tu me manques”.

Bini Stacey

Stacey or Stacey Aubrey Sevilleja is the “Main Rapper” and Dance Machine. She brings a fierce energy to BINI with her dynamic rap flow and impeccable dance moves. But Stacey’s influence extends beyond the stage. With her trendy fashion sense and confident aura, she’s a style icon in the making, inspiring fans to embrace their individuality and express themselves through fashion. For me, Stacey is the most underrated Bini. I love her no-makeup look on social media and her body is to die for.

Bini Jhoanna

Jhoanna Christine Robles. The “Leader,” Vocalist, and Rapper, is the heart and soul of BINI. Her leadership skills, combined with her impressive talents in singing and rapping, make her an invaluable asset to the group. But did you know she’s also a skilled drummer? This multi-talented musician never ceases to amaze with her hidden talents.

Bini Sheena

Sheena Mae Catacutan is the “Main Dancer,” She glides across the stage with a grace and swag that’s simply mesmerizing. She’s a dead ringer for Sarah G., right?  She’s also the youngest in the group at 20. She shares a love for good food with Maloi, and despite her quiet demeanor, her presence is always felt, adding a touch of mystery and intrigue to the group.

Bini Mikha

Mikha or Mikhaela Janna Jimenea is the “Main Rapper,” Dancer, and Visual. She is a triple threat with talent, looks, and charisma to spare. Her Scorpio spirit shines through in her passionate performances and unwavering determination. Mikha’s cool-girl vibe and effortless style have made her a fan favorite, solidifying her status as BINI’s ultimate girl crush.

I will be very honest and tell you that I don’t have a favorite and I love each of them with my heart.
