A Memorable Summer @ Camp Rofelio

It’s been a while since we’ve had a family outing. Money’s been tight these past two years, so we’ve had to put fun on hold. But hey, the kids aced their schoolwork, so we figured it’s time to reward them with a little getaway. They deserve a memory that’ll last a lifetime, right?

I’m all about Baguio, you know, the cool mountain air and all that. But the beach crew won out, so we packed our bags and headed to Camp Rofelio in LiwLiwa Beach, San Rafael, Zambales. Perfect timing too – my sister-in-law’s birthday and Father’s Day all rolled into one big summer celebration.

Jingggay with her celebratory cake. We passed by a restaurant in Subic named The Coffeeshop (or something like that)

The resort is owned by a good friend of my brother-in-law, and let me tell you, the kids had a blast. Swimming, tanning, and snapping a gazillion photos (which, of course, they’re keeping to themselves) 🤣

The beach had this awesome gray sand, and the waves were just right for a little skimboarding action.

The sunset was amazing too!

If you’re not fond of the beach, they have a big swimming pool in front of the rooms. the pool has a jacuzzi too so you could have some well-deserved therapeutic action.

Oh, and they even got to ride the banana boat before we left. Sadly, no pictures of that – nobody wanted to risk their phones becoming fish food. But trust me, they enjoyed every minute of it!

Camp Rofelio has it all – comfy rooms with cable TV and free Wi-Fi.

However, you need to find a good spot because the signal can be pretty terrible in some areas. So, fair warning- If you want to work from home or attend meetings, ditch that idea entirely. You wouldn’t be able to. And why would you do that anyway? You are in such a beautiful place!

They also have ATV by the beach for a little exciting and different activity.

Seriously, they went above and beyond. I had a challenging time walking on the sand to go to the water. It’s a good distance of about 150 meters. A quarter of the distance and I’m already so tired. When the staff saw me they sent their mini sidecar, commonly known as kolong-kolong to bring me to shore. And because of that I was able to sit by the sand and watch them swim and play by the waves.

They even made a makeshift “sandalan” for me so I’m a bit stable

At night, while staring at the pine trees, I had this flashback to way back when. You know, before social media took over our lives?

There was this trend of beach camping – the real deal, no electricity, no bathrooms, just you and the wilderness. Turns out, this was the place they were talking about! Of course, now it’s got all the modern comforts. Things change, but this place is still as beautiful as ever.

During Saturday nights A live band play at their resto/bar. They mostly play familiar tunes and they also take song requests from the audience. It’s such a nice way to unwind and destress after all the rigors of work.

Sadly, I wasn’t able to join them since I got tired from the afternoon activities.

Between sets of the band, there’s a fire dance spectacle which you could enjoy by the beach.

A big shoutout to Kuya Jon and Kuya Ariel for their amazing hospitality. We’ll definitely be back!
