Confession time: I may have a slight obsession with Korean dramas. The heartwarming friendships, the epic plot twists, the fashion that somehow makes sweatpants look glamorous – it’s a full-on love affair. But what truly elevates a K-drama from good to great? The leading ladies, of course! Today, I’m sharing with you the phenomenal actresses who have stolen my K-drama-loving heart. Get ready for some fangirling, swooning, and maybe even a tear or two.
4. Ra Mi Ran

We all have those moms, right? The ones who make us laugh until our sides hurt and then embarrass us in public the next minute. Ra Mi Ran is the queen of playing these characters! Remember her as the hilarious mom in Reply 1988 (Jung-pal’s mom)? Or the supportive (yet slightly meddling) mom of “Good Boy” Lee Do-Hyun in The Good Bad Mother? She has this incredible way of being both relatable and completely scene-stealing. It’s like she walks onto the set and everything just clicks into place. Plus, let’s be honest, there’s a little bit of Ra Mi Ran’s characters in all of us – that deep-down need to feel needed, even if it means being a little extra sometimes! (Don’t worry, moms, I won’t tell if you admit it.)

She’s the quintessential mom that you will love earnestly. A mom you’d like to hug all the time and never leave behind despite some of her unappealing traits. I can actually see myself in some of her roles. I would like to think that, like her, without me, everything would just be dull. But I guess that would be shooting for the moon.
3. Lee Hye Ri

Hye Ri is like a breath of fresh air. She brings this infectious charm and humor to every role she plays. Remember her as the lovable Sung Deok-sun in Reply 1988? She might not have been the “typical” school beauty, but her quirky personality and genuine heart had both Choi Taek and Sun Woo Jung-hwan falling for her. (Seriously, jealous much?) After watching Reply 1988 about four times, I watched her in My Roommate Is a Gumiho.

Hye Ri is more than just funny. She’s also a talented actress who can hold her own against seasoned veterans. Plus, did you know she was originally a singer? She was the youngest member of the girl group Girl’s Day!
She was named the “Nation’s Little Sister” by the South Korean media due to her immense popularity after appearing as a fixed cast member on Real Men (2014).
She later became known for her award-winning performance as the female lead Deok-sun in Reply 1988 (2015), which was the highest-rated drama in Korean cable television history at the time. After back-to-back success in variety and the small screen, Hye Ri ranked third in the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list in 2016 and became one of the highest-paid commercial models in South Korea.
2. Song Hye Kyo

This woman is a K-drama powerhouse. I wasn’t always the biggest fan, I first watched her in Encounter because of Park Bo-gum, but then I saw her in The Glory. Let me tell you, the intensity she brought to that role was unreal! It really made me appreciate just how talented she is.

And her resume speaks for itself. She’s starred in some of the most iconic Korean dramas out there, like Autumn in My Heart, Full House, and Descendants of the Sun. The point is, Song Hye Kyo is a force to be reckoned with, and even with all the new and talented actresses out there, she’s still at the top of her game.
Song Hye Kyo is known for her youthful appearance. Can you believe she’s been in the industry for over 20 years?

1. Kim Tae Hee

Let’s be honest, Hi Bye, Mama! is a tearjerker of a drama. But seriously, Kim Tae Hee’s performance in that show was incredible. There were times when I was just sobbing uncontrollably – it was pure catharsis!

This marked my debut encounter with Kim Tae Hee’s acting prowess, and I must confess, I was utterly captivated. It seems I’ve been oblivious to a true talent! She’s graced the screens with her presence in a myriad of beloved dramas, including the timeless ‘Stairway to Heaven’ and the enchanting ‘Love Story in Harvard.'”
Kim Tae Hee is married to the K-pop superstar Rain. Talk about a power couple!
So there you have it, my K-drama queens! These four amazing actresses have brought me countless hours of laughter, tears, and everything in between. Who are your favorite K-drama actresses? Let me know in the comments below!
