The Damsel Who Doesn’t Need To Be Saved

A review of the movie Damsel

Netflix aired Damsel on March 8, 2024, and it soon climbed to number 1. Although it didn’t stay long on the top spot, it has been viewed 35 million times in the span of a week! In fact, I’m one of those numbers. And yes, I watched Damsel twice in one week.

Whenever I watch something and love it, the next thing I’ll do is go over the group chat on Messenger with my sisters. This time, all three of us agreed that Damsel is a great watch! It’s not your standard fairy tale where the handsome Prince Charming would rescue the delicate princess. Instead, the formidable princess torched the cowardly Prince to smithereens, lol, with the help of an ugly mother dragon.

I’m not a fan of Millie Bobby Brown. Although I watched Stranger Things, I didn’t have the concentration to finish the entire thing. And Enola Holmes is just boring for me. Sorry. But here in Damsel, Millie blossomed into a beautiful lady, and I loved that her character took an entirely different route. I love the full-on survival mode, and the graphics is amazing! I like that they flipped the typical fairy tale and showed that women can do amazing things without needing the help of anyone. Talk about being a mother, lol. But seriously, if you haven’t seen it, give it a try!
