A review of Gilmore Girls

There are only a few series that I have watched multiple times. Because I’m a creature of habit, whenever I don’t have anything to watch, I immediately choose the familiar. Gilmore Girls is one of those series.
The magic of the world of “Gilmore Girls” is enchanting. I’ve journeyed through it thrice. From the cobbled streets of Stars Hollow to the trials and tribulations of the three Gilmore women, the series is both comforting and unnerving, unfolding like pages from a family album.
I like that it made me laugh and cry, and I hoped for a happy ending for the characters.
The story primarily revolves around the mother-daughter duo of Lorelai and Rory. Lorelai, a single mother, dreams of a life different from her past for her daughter, Rory. She wants Rory to have every opportunity, untouched by the challenges of unplanned teenage parenthood that marked her own journey. But as we watch Rory grow, we’re reminded of life’s cruel irony. Rory, who starts as a beacon of hope and brilliance, winds up confronting her own unplanned pregnancy, mirroring Lorelai’s past. The series ends on a cliffhanger, with Rory’s whisper, “I’m pregnant,” leaving viewers in heart-wrenching suspense.
This plot twist, initially jarring to me, became a symbolic reflection on life. It underscores the reality that people change. And as they evolve, they unearth facets of themselves, some beautiful and others painfully raw. It’s a lesson in embracing our flaws, owning up to our decisions, and understanding that our youthful missteps, no matter how grave, don’t define us.
Emily Gilmore’s journey is a standout testament to this. From epitomizing high society’s rigidity, Emily blossoms into a character of warmth and grace, casting aside her opulent shell for genuine kindness. This transformation truly inspired me.
Then there’s Luke, the grounded diner owner, who added a layer of rustic charm and straightforwardness. His diner, where coffee flowed endlessly and comfort food was served generously, is a dreamy haven I’ve always fancied owning.
But the true heart of the show is Stars Hollow. This quaint town, with its endearing gossip and spirited community, seems like the perfect place to call home. Its residents care, fight, love, and laugh, all under the shelter of twinkling lights and nostalgic melodies.
In essence, “Gilmore Girls” isn’t just a show. It’s a reflection on life, growth, dreams, and the inevitable turns they take. It’s a reminder that life isn’t perfect, and neither are we. But in accepting our imperfections and embracing change, we find our true strength.
