Sarah’s Bakehouse Eggpie

About a month ago, my sister mentioned this to me. And while walking around SM Fairview yesterday we passed by its stall and upon contemplating whether to get the slice or the whole, being the PG that we are, we opted for the whole.
Mind you, I never liked egg pie growing up. We used to buy egg pie from the bakery and I don’t like the texture. Like my son, I have an aversion to textures similar to that of custard. Although, unlike him, I can tolerate jelly, he just can’t. But I’m sure he’ll get over it, just like how I moved on from my dislike of anything custardy. Proof of that is my fondness for Bavarian donuts.
But wait, just a few minutes ago we were eating donuts we bought from Bistro Deli. The conversation on the table went like this:
Papa Lay: Zaki, Anong sabi ng donut sa nakita nyong donut sa taas ng puno?
Zaki: Ano pa? paki ulit nga (True to a millennial’s lack of propensity for listening, he asked this twice) Papa Lay of course repeated the question.
Me: ‘Donut go down!’ Of course, I’m wrong, as expected. Sirit
Papa: Lay: Sabi nung donut sa donut sa taas ng puno ‘Hoy! Bavarian!’ You get the gist 🤣
So wait, ano nga ba young sinasabi ko? Yeah, back to our recent food find. We bought a whole egg pie and it was the best egg pie everrrr!

1 whole egg pie P520 (with PWD discount) P540 regular price
The pie is creamy and the sweetness is perfect. The crust is crunchy and you can finish a huge slice on your own. Come to think of it, the pie is almost like a leche flan in texture, or slightly firmer. The creaminess of the custard is hindi nakakaumay. So there goes my ability to describe food, duh.
Basta pag napadaan kayo sa SM, don’t think twice. They also have Basque Burnt Cheesecake which is P880 for a whole. Next time.
